Ron La Progresiva 13yo by Vigia
Marked with the VIGÍA seal of quality and with the intent to be sipped like a fine Cognac or rare whiskey, La Progresiva de Vigía 13 is a game changer in the emerging Cuban Rum category, in fact there is nothing like it on the international stage.
The home of La Progresiva la casa de Ron Vigía takes its name from the 15th century Spanish vantage point above La Habana where Ernest Hemmingway made Vigía his home Amongst his many other talents, Hemmingway had a penchant for great Cuban rums, frequenting the now famous La Floridita and Bodeguita del Medio bars in La Habana.
VISUAL: Dark amber.
NOSE: Slight smoke and char with a heady dose of oak cask. Lively, vivacious and elegantly appointed.
TASTE: A quite dry approach with a lot of tight woody notes. Burnt caramel, dried apple, even a bit of salinity is present, making this a dessert-like rum. There is a deep richness in the mouthfeel.
FINISH: Medium long with a somewhat tannic finish on the back of the palate.
OVERALL: A beautiful Cuban rum that excels in character and flavour.
